Release Notes: Imunify360 v.5.5

IM-major-release

We’re pleased to announce that a new version of Imunify360, version 5.5, is now available. The following features are new in the v.5.5 release:

  • Debian support
Imunify360 v.5.5 added full support of Debian 9 and Debian 10 systems.
  • Python 3.8 support
Imunify360 upgraded version of Python, and now it is designed to run with Python 3.8.
  • Enhanced UI
Improvements in the Imunify360 UI keeps your preferred settings stored when the page is opened again.
  • RapidScan workflow fixed
Changes allow you to rescan and find malware in files previously rated as safe.

This is what we’ve updated in version 5.5:

Debian support

We’ve been asked about Debian support so we have decided to not delay it any longer. Starting from version 5.5, Imunify360 added support for the current versions of the Debian operating systems. Imunify360 supports the same set of panels and can be installed in the following environments, in just a few clicks:

Debian 9

Debian 10

Plesk

DirectAdmin

Stand-alone installation

Debian's support has become even more important due to the recent announcement about the CentOS 8 life cycle being cut short.

The Imunify360 installation process remains the same.

Python 3.8 support

The previous versions of Imunify360 used Python 3.5 that reached the end of its life.

It’s crucial to use relevant versions of 3rd party interpreters to provide top-level application security as well as server security. Starting from version 5.5 Imunify360 is running Python 3.8.

Enhanced UI

Imunify360 allows you to specify filter settings to quickly search over the tons of incidents. In the previous versions of Imunify360, you had to set filtering and display settings from scratch every time you opened the Incident tab. Starting from v5.5, all filter and view options will be stored in the browser’s local storage. System administrators, support teams, or anyone who is using UI can save time by setting up filter preference options as the default option.

The list of stored UI parameters include the following:

  • dashboard view in Incidents and Alerts tab;
  • filters for Incidents, Firewall, Malware Scanner, and Proactive Defense tabs; and
  • pagination settings.

RapidScan workflow fixed

Since the RapidScan feature release, we have received very few reports regarding rare cases of an inability to identify the malicious file by the recently added signatures.

We’ve addressed the issue and changed the workflow. Now, in Imunify360 v5.5, all files will be gradually rescanned within the month, regardless of the previous “clean” verdict. The portion of files to rescan is selected automatically before every scan, depending on the scan schedule. This is a way to smoothly spread the load for the month.
